Can I withdraw money from ATMs with a foreign credit card?
Yes, in Bulgaria ATM accepts Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Amex and rarely Diner’s Club. To increase security, better check your own bank. Many shops and restaurants accept credit card payments – Visa and MasterCard.

Tips are very welcomed in Bulgaria. Usually, in a restaurant, the norm is 10 per cent of the bill. However, it is up to you to decide if the service has been good and the food delicious. Usually, the customers round up the amounts. In most places, if you pay with a card, the tip cannot be included. That is why it is always good to be prepared with some cash. Tipping is also expected in the tourist industry – it is a custom for tour guides and drivers to be tipped between 8 – 10 per cent. Giving them small coins would be considered as an insult.
